At Sargent’s Equipment & Repair Service, our team tackles some of the most common (and costly) issues before they become bigger problems. Here’s what we’re seeing most often in the field and in the shop:

Hydraulic System Fixes

Slow or jerky movement, overheating, or pressure loss usually points to hydraulic problems. These could be leaking fittings, contaminated fluid, or failing pumps and cylinders. We troubleshoot the full system and fix your issue, whether you need some new hoses and seals or fully rebuilt cylinders and a pump.

Emissions and DEF Problems

Machines built to meet Tier 4 Final emissions standards are packed with sensitive components. If your unit is derating, throwing codes, or using DEF too quickly, we can help. We clean or replace DPF filters, fix faulty sensors, and diagnose DEF pump or dosing issues, keeping your machine compliant and productive.

Fuel System Issues

Dirty fuel, clogged filters, or failing injectors can cause starting trouble, stalling, or performance loss. We test pressure and flow, inspect lines and tanks, and clean or replace fuel components. Early attention prevents long-term engine damage and costly downtime.

Line Boring

Over time, pivot points wear out, creating extra space in the joints that affects accuracy and increases stress on components. We offer on-site and in-shop line boring to return bore diameters to spec and restore proper pin fitment. This reduces wear, increases efficiency, and extends the life of your attachments and stick.

Shims and Bushings Replacement

Worn bushings and loose pins not only affect control, they can snowball into major repairs if left unchecked. We assess wear, machine or replace bushing bores, and fit oversized pins or shims to restore tight tolerances. This is a critical service for machines working in high-load, repetitive motion applications.

Track and Undercarriage Repairs

A worn or damaged undercarriage can quickly put a machine out of action. We inspect and repair track chains, rollers, pads, sprockets, and idlers. From minor fixes to full undercarriage replacement, we’ll get your machine back on stable ground.

Booms and Stick Repair

Stress cracks, worn pin holes, and fatigue failures in the boom or stick are common with machines under heavy load. We repair structural damage using certified welders and custom-fabricated components when needed. Whether it’s a hairline crack or a complete boom rebuild, we restore structural integrity and working clearances to OEM specs.
